Words we use
- Fund
- A basket of coins, opened by one person, open to anyone after that.
- Share
- Your claim on the whole basket. Never a claim on one coin inside it.
- Basket
- Everything the fund is holding right now.
- Weight
- How much of the basket one coin is, as a percentage. It moves as prices move. Nothing to do with a lock: what a rank is measured in is points.
- Seed
- The money the creator puts in to open the fund.
- NAV
- What one share is worth right now. Where a coin in the basket has no price, there is no reading, and we show that rather than a guess.
- Since start
- What $10 put in on the day a fund opened would be worth now, so the figure is directly comparable between funds whatever each opened at. It is not the share price, which the fund page shows beside it. A fund too young to have the reading shows nothing rather than showing $10 twice.
- Safety
- One number out of 10 with a colour, summarising what a fund holds, how long it has run and how it has done, and whether a real linked manager runs it. One weak coin pulls it down on its own. See How safe it is. No number at all means nobody has been able to check it yet.
- Rank
- Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, earned by locking the platform token and measured in points. For anyone running a fund, a higher rank is a larger share of every fee their own fund charges.
- Points
- What a rank is measured in: the coins you lock multiplied by the factor for the term you lock them for. Your own screen counts them up against the four ranks and shows how far the next one is. The lock.
- Rent
- A fund's monthly charge for being held, taken out of your slice rather than billed to you. Its creator picks one of 0.5% a month, 0.65% a month, 0.8% a month or 1% a month when the fund is made and it can never move. It is not a performance fee: it is charged whether the fund is up or down. The rent.
- Holders pot
- What a wallet earns for holding at least 10,000 of the platform token: its share of 50% of the token's trading fees, growing every second, claimed whenever you like. No lock and nothing to sign up for. Holders pot.
- Lock
- Putting the platform token away for a fixed term. The coins keep earning from the Holders pot while they are away, and count for more there than they would unlocked. See the section above.
- Set aside
- A coin your exit could not hand over on the day, kept for you as a claim. It does not expire and nobody else can be paid out of it. Leaving.
- Notice
- The 24 hours a coin a fund does not already hold must sit in public before the manager may add it. A coin that was dropped earlier counts as one of those and serves the clock again.
